Challenges of the road less taken

January 31, 2012

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.”

The idea of traversing the unknown is fascinating and enticing. Those who actually dare to explore emerge stronger with novel experiences to cherish for life.

While there are ups and downs during the course, they prove your mettle and help build up resilience.

But throughout the journey the conscious decision to surrender oneself into the depths of the unknown plays a pivotal role. There comes countless moments, during the path, when one is forced to look back and question their decision.

Let’s take the instance of moving to a new country. Settling down — which means adjusting to a new milieu, learning about a new culture, starting afresh — could be fun and challenging at the same time, and I speak from experience.

And the New World invariably tests the endurance of a newcomer.

In this blog I will focus on some of the challenges that immigrants encounter during their journey and how they choose to deal with it.

The Westgate Culinary Club in Cambridge will help unravel the story.
